7 Things about me you wish you didn't know

I was tagged by my sweet neighbor Charity (Who along with her husband Todd and us are the only people in a 3 block radius under 40 years old)

I need to tell 7 quirky or random things about myself here goes:

1. When I'm sitting on the couch I need a blanket on my lap. Even if it's 90 degrees with 100% humidity in the summertime.

2. I am a reservoir of useless information when it comes to celebrities and movie trivia. Why I couldn't remember things that would make me a millionaire is beyond me.

3. I spent a year in Japan after I graduated from high school. I say that I don't remember any Japanese but apparently I slip into it when we watch tv or ordering sushi.

4. I have a tramp stamp (Translation- lower back tattoo) that while I love turned out much bigger than I wanted. Oh well- live and learn. And live with it forever. It's my name in katakana- Japanese.

5. I literally get an adreneline rush when I buy new scrapbook supplies. I mean come on!! New papers, embellies. . . heart. . . racing. . . I giggle like a schoolgirl.

6. I secretly love 70's/dentist office music. Like a lot! Earth Wind and Fire, Doobie Brothers (The Doobie Brothers broke up? When did that happen? Leave me a comment with the answer of the movie that line is in and who said it and you'll be entered for a prize. See usless movie knowledge.) , Billy Preston, Lionel Ritchie, Bill Withers, Michael McDonald, James Ingram, Al Green, Stevie Wonder, and of course Barry Manilow.

7. If I could meet anyone dead or alive I'd tell you Katharine Hepburn or Cary Grant. Doesn't that make me distinguished? But secretly I would be equally happy meeting Colin Firth or George Clooney.

The rules are:1. Link to the person that tagged you, and post the rules on your blog.2. Share 7 random and or weird facts about yourself.3. Tag 7 random people at the end of your post, and include links to their blogs.4. Let each person know that they’ve been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.
Im tagging Carla, Jayne, Matt, Rachel, Stacey, Jess, Jen

Thanks Charity!!! Once all this snow melts we'll have to get the kids together!!

On A Roll!

When Scout and I were in Kentucky a couple of weeks ago she rolled from front-to-back and back-to-front. She hasn't done it much since- but that's ok. I still have it on film :)

Jane Austen

Oh how I love Jane Austen. Obviously- since Bennet is named after Elizabeth Bennet in P&P. PBS is running all of her novels right now. The BBC version of Pride and Prejudice just wrapped up last night. I love Colin Firth. So dreamy. And who else would I watch when I was up at 3:30a.m. with Scout :) I may just have to watch it again tonight.

I saw this quiz on a friends blog and had to take it. Not surprised by the results. I wonder if Bennet were to take it when she was older who it would say she is like.

I am Elinor Dashwood!

Take the Quiz here!

Aunt Katie & Uncle Matt Visit

Katie had a long weekend so her and Matt came to visit on Saturday. We hadn't seen them since Thanksgiving so it was really nice to spend some time together. It was a weekend of music! Bennet likes to pound the bongos! And play a little Guitar Hero. We don't do very well since she wants to push all the keys- but we try. And yes- you have to have an open mouth to get it just right. Matt forgot who Scout was so Katie made a sign to help him remember.
B's new favorite toy. She alternates between two pair.

Sunday we got pummeled by more snow. So we played outside for a bit. Katie pulled Bennet around in the sled and then taught her to eat snow. She thought that was soooo cool!

Totally Smitten

Here is a recent layout. I have to give a shout out to the following people who made it happen.

Chere for some of the pink buttons.

Angi for the super cool big brad.

The Williams family for the outfit. Our #1 favorite and sad to see it's too small now.

She'll be 6 months old in a couple weeks. Where does the time go? (Shut up Nick ;))

Happy Valentine's Day

Happy belated Valentine's Day! Scout had an adorable outfit but unfortunately she had a bit of an accident so no photos yet. It will be a Bennet-centric post.

Nick put Bennet's hair in pig tails yesterday morning. I seriously love this man.

The girls got me this beautiful heart shaped tower from Wine Country Gift Baskets (love them- use them!) filled with Godiva goodies. I cozied up with a mug of hot cocoa and ate them while I watched LOST last night (Side note- any LOST fans out there? Whoa nelly- what a season so far!!) The card said to please share them. Hmmm. . . who wrote out the card? Not my 2 year old. Could it be Nick's sweet tooth? I turn my back for literally 2 minutes and she's already into it. At least she has a banana first right?

I got Nick a movie from the girls and some speakers for his ipod. When I was in KY last weekend I noticed that JC/DC used their ipod alot in their living room. And oh the dancing that insued. Totally dug that idea.

Whether you love Valentine's Day or hate it - it's still a good reminder to tell those people you love that you do in fact love them. I love you!!

The Traveling Gray Hoodie

Where to begin? In my previous life I used to travel alot for my job. Approximately 400 flights per year. Needless to say I racked up the frequent flier miles. However, because United can't seem to link their Mileage Plus computer system with their regular system I lost over 100,000 miles. That's alot of miles people! I have an unrealistic dream of Nick and I jetting off to Europe at some point. So in order to get those miles back I had to take a paid flight somewhere. I looked into making a quick trip to Chicago or Minneapolis but tickets were close to $800. CRAZY!! On a whim I looked at tickets to see friends and found a great price for a flight to Kentucky so off we went.

Oh some more back story for the new viewers of this blog. When I was pregnant with my first daughter Bennet in 2005 I joined an online pregnancy group called the BrrrBabies. We were all due around the same time- Dec. 21-31, 2005. We've all stayed very close and 'talk' every day. In fact, I've been able to meet nine of them in person over the last 2 years. My friend Carrie (who I went to see in KY) has a son born the same day as Bennet. And Carla (from Ontario, Canada) made the drive down to spend the weekend as well. They came to see me in Wisconsin last May so it was my turn to travel ;)

Here is Scout all packed and ready to go. 5 months old and excited for her first plane trip.

We were delayed from Central Wisconsin so Scout and I jammed out to some sweet tunes on the ipod.

Scout did such a great job on the planes. People said "Oh- I forgot she was even here" That's what I like to hear. You know they're thinking "Oh please don't let it be me who drew the short straw and has to sit next to the baby" :) This is the first exposure of the Traveling Gray Hoodie.

When we got to OHare we found out that our flight into Louisville had been cancelled due to Ground Control. There's a new made up excuse if I ever heard one. So instead of getting into Louisville at 6 p.m. and making the drive to Lexington I wouldn't get to Louisville until midnight. UGH! So- I asked if they could send us to Lexington or Cincinnati instead. Sure. So Carrie and Carla left Louisville and went to Cincy and met me. Those poor girls made a giant triangle of driving to get us. Thanks again you guys!!

The pilot of our flight to Cincy took this picture. A really nice gentleman. He just came up to us and made small talk and then offered to take the photo. Oh- gray hoodie again.

Since my luggage was on a plane for Louisville and I flew into Cincinnati we spent the weekend living out of the little diaper bag I brought. I had one extra outfit for Scout and my camera. Really that's all I needed. There are far worse things in life right? Besides- I'm starting to really like my gray hoodie.

Scout had a milestone on the trip. Right after this photo was taken she rolled over and back for the 1st time. Superstar!!

Carrie's oldest son Dylan LOVES babies. He was such a doll with Scout. He kept saying that she was his and she needed to stay in KY. But that I could visit anytime I wanted. So thoughtful :)

Another BrrrBaby friend Hillary came down from Cincinatti to join us for lunch. She has two boys. Her first was born a week or so after Bennet and her second was born about a month before Scout. Pregnant at the same time both times. There's Colin in the background.

Scout really liked Wilson. I think she may have a little crush.
After an afternoon of eating and shopping some adult beverages were in order. Off to the Liquor (lick her? I barely know her hee hee) Barn. Carla and Carrie with the hooch.
Hmmmm. . . . Boddingtons.
Colin wanted to hold Scout. Bennet hasn't even asked to do that yet. Thanks for letting us borrow the pj's too.
Scout's first trip to Archiver's. She's a scrapper in the making. Fast forward 15 or less years and she'll join me at crops!Oh the Colonel. He's such a sexy little fox isn't he? Did you know his first name was Harland? A little trivia for you. And do you spy the gray hoodie?
This photo is just for Matt.

Our flight home was delayed in Louisville but we made it home on time to Wisconsin. We were welcomed to subzero temps though- ick!!

I had such an awesome weekend. There is nothing like girl time. Thank you to Carrie (and family) for being such amazing hosts. Thank you to Carla for making the long drive down. And thank you to Hillary for hanging out on Sat. It was nice to finally meet you and Wilson. Love you guys!

Recent Scrapbook Layouts

Since my word for 2008 is BALANCE I'm going to try and keep this blog as both my scrapbook and family blog. A fusion of worlds if you will.
I love how this turned out. I've always been a little timid of glitter- but now I'm hooked! The scan doesn't show it very well but there is glitter on the chipboard flourish and underneath the ghost letters in 'Snow'

From bump to baby

I'll be back with a nice, long, photo filled post from my weekend trip to Kentucky, but I had to share these quick. The first is from May at our house in WI when I was 5 months pregnant with Leg Lamp (we know her as Scout now) Carrie (from KY) is on the left. Carla (from Ontario, CAN is on the right)
And here we are with Scout at 5 months old last weekend in Kentucky. Can you say scrapbook page? :)

Where does the time go?

I know I say it every month, but it's hard to believe Scout is 5 months old today.

In the last month she's started to 'talk' more which is so fun. When she wakes up from a nap you can hear her having a little party in her crib. Just squealing away.

She's starting to enjoy her exersaucer too. And man does she like to stand. She will stand on your lap for ages. She has been banned from the bouncy seat because she prefers to sit up in it. She'll literally do sit ups. Humorous, yes, but she doesn't need 6 pack abs right now :)

Here she is giving her best Dr. Evil impression. One MILLION dollars.

Her eyes have been looking so blue lately.

A Different Kind of Bowl Weekend

After our ideal weekend last week we were slapped by the sicky brigade this week. Full throttle. Even though it was Super Bowl weekend we all spent more time with the Sick Bowl and Toilet Bowl. Bennet got the stomach bug Wednesday night-Thursday. It hit me Thursday night and all day Friday. Scout had it Friday-Sat. Nick got it Friday afternoon. You get the hint. It boomeranged back a little yesterday for Bennet and I got it last night and today.

Bennet was kind of freaked out by the whole experience. So to make her embrace the bowl she put some kitty cat and Star Wars stickers on it. Somehow having Darth Vader and Chewbacca('Bacca' as she says) embellies makes it a little easier.

Can you say bleach water and Clorox wipes? If I never do another load of laundry of soiled, gag inducing pajamas/sheets it will be too soon.

Here is a photo that encapsulates the weekend. Bennet with her blanket, pedilyte, Stoli kitty, Sick Bowl, towel and remote. Oh and Cheetos. Yes- stellar parenting there. But at that point if she wanted to eat a banana split with triple chocolate and a Coke I would have let her.
Tomorrow is Tuesday. Let's hope it is TERRIFIC!!
