Where does the time go?

I know I say it every month, but it's hard to believe Scout is 5 months old today.

In the last month she's started to 'talk' more which is so fun. When she wakes up from a nap you can hear her having a little party in her crib. Just squealing away.

She's starting to enjoy her exersaucer too. And man does she like to stand. She will stand on your lap for ages. She has been banned from the bouncy seat because she prefers to sit up in it. She'll literally do sit ups. Humorous, yes, but she doesn't need 6 pack abs right now :)

Here she is giving her best Dr. Evil impression. One MILLION dollars.

Her eyes have been looking so blue lately.

A Different Kind of Bowl Weekend

After our ideal weekend last week we were slapped by the sicky brigade this week. Full throttle. Even though it was Super Bowl weekend we all spent more time with the Sick Bowl and Toilet Bowl. Bennet got the stomach bug Wednesday night-Thursday. It hit me Thursday night and all day Friday. Scout had it Friday-Sat. Nick got it Friday afternoon. You get the hint. It boomeranged back a little yesterday for Bennet and I got it last night and today.

Bennet was kind of freaked out by the whole experience. So to make her embrace the bowl she put some kitty cat and Star Wars stickers on it. Somehow having Darth Vader and Chewbacca('Bacca' as she says) embellies makes it a little easier.

Can you say bleach water and Clorox wipes? If I never do another load of laundry of soiled, gag inducing pajamas/sheets it will be too soon.

Here is a photo that encapsulates the weekend. Bennet with her blanket, pedilyte, Stoli kitty, Sick Bowl, towel and remote. Oh and Cheetos. Yes- stellar parenting there. But at that point if she wanted to eat a banana split with triple chocolate and a Coke I would have let her.
Tomorrow is Tuesday. Let's hope it is TERRIFIC!!

An Ideal Weekend

My word for 2008 is BALANCE. And this weekend I think I achieved it. It was just perfect!

Friday night Nick and I cashed in a babysitting night from Grandma Sweeney. She had given us a 'night out' as an Anniversary present. Since our anniversary was Sept 6th and Scout was born Sept 5th we obviously didn't go out then. We spent it at the hospital.

We started the night with a wonderful dinner at the country club. Delicious food and amazing wine. We both ate more than our fair share, but it really was a treat! Then it was off to the Grand Theater to see Big Bad Voodoo Daddy. (Thanks to Fox 55 and Deb S for the tickets!) It was alot of fun! It made me want to get out my trumpet and practice. I took a little video.

After the concert we went to Malarkey's Pub. The most un-Irish pub I've ever been to. But it was fun all the same.

What is Silent Bob doing playing the sax?

As we were leaving it began to snow. This is the Grand Theatre across the street.

Saturday morning I left the house bright and early for an out-of-town crop. Thank you to Casie for coordinating such a fun day. I got several pages done and met some really hip scrappers. I'll upload layouts once I get them scanned.

My mom came into town to visit too! So when I got back from the crop we all went out to dinner at Buffalo Wild Wings. Scout got all bundled up and actually fell asleep during dinner. Bennet was more of handful. That's what being 2 is all about.
Of course since Grandma Trunnell was in town it meant it was bath night. I guess they are both mesmerized by the bubbles or something.
Scout continues to LOVE bathtime. She just sits there and smiles and giggles. Such a contrast to B who was a screamer!

Today Grandma, Bennet and I went back downtown to go skating and sledding. Bennet loved picking up the chunks of snow and throwing them on the ground.

For the first time in a long time it was in the 30's today. Heatwave!! Here I am on my skates.

I got a little workout pulling Bennet around.

After skating we went over the G&G Sweeney's to sled on their hill. They were up at the cabin so they weren't home. Bennet walked in the house and quickly went to the library looking for Grandpa in his chair. "Paw Paw?" Sorry honey- he's not home. Maybe next time.
The snow was pretty deep so we made a short run.
And to wrap up my ideal weekend I took a 2 hour nap this afternoon. Weekends like this do wonders for my attitude. Bring on the week I say!

What's in a Name?

I saw this on several of my scrapbooking friends blogs and had to give it a whirl. I used the most popular spelling of Carrie since Kari can be pronounced Car-i and blah blah blah. I agree with some of the things it says but other parts make me go 'Hmm. . .'

C is for Cookie

Yes- Cookie Monster says C is for Cookie and I have to agree. Nick was craving a sweet treat so Bennet helped him make cookies this afternoon. It gave B the chance to try out the new apron I made for her birthday.

A classic Bennet reaction to food- 'OOHHH'

This could have been ugly. She really wanted to hold the eggs. It's all fun and games until the egg breaks.

Scout's reaction to the sweet smell of baking cookies. Not old enough quite yet. Means more for me :)
The finished product. Let me tell ya- they were deeeee-licious!

Scout @ 4 Months

It's hard to believe that our little Scout is already 4 months old. We truly couldn't ask for a better baby. She is such a happy, content girl. We've been blessed with a good sleeper which makes life at our house much easier. You know how I LOVE my sleep.
And oh how she makes us laugh! Nick can tickle her in the right spot and get the most infectious, deep laugh out of her.
She rolled over from her back to her belly on her 4 month birthday, got stuck, got mad and hasn't tried it again. She really is starting to move around more that's for sure.

Bennet has really taken to her in the last month or so. If Scout is sleeping in the mornings on the days Bennet goes to daycare, B will go give Scout's door a hug and blow her a kiss. I'm sure once Scout starts to move and play with Bennet's things this happiness will change :)
Her Aunt Katie and Uncle Matt will be happy to know that I caught her practicing her Blue Steel look the other day. It is far from perfected- but she'll unleash it soon.
