Hey Dad- Look! See it?

I made this layout in January for the Inspired to Scrap Sketch class. They are starting a new class in the beginning of April. *17* new sketches complete with samples, tips and techniques!

You know how I love to play with (read: use every little piece) my patterned paper scraps. I did two layers of kraft paper and inked the edges of the smaller one for a little definition.

E

I made this layout for a recent Layout Lift Chain at the Scrapbook Nook. I love Ellie's outfit- ducky pj's, apron and messy face. I'm still on a gray cardstock kick. Lovin' it!

10 Things on Thursday

1.   I finished this book last week. I usually don't read a whole lot of suspense/mystery books but this book was outstanding! Reminded me of the movie Memento with a shot of crazy thrown in.

2. Scout was sick most of last week. A horrible cough and high fever. Took her to the Dr. who confirmed influenza. Ugh.  All three still have a nasty cough.

3. We have had record breaking high temps the last week or so. It was warmer in Wausau than Phoenix. We've broken 10 records in the last 9 days. 75 degree weather is bizarre!

4. Ellie is working on using the potty. She's getting #1 down but #2 is a challenge. I swear we just finished potty training Scout. Not a fun job- but someone's got to do it.

5. Had Bennet's 2nd Kindergarten conference of the year last week. She's doing great academically and socially. Couldn't ask for more!

6. I just finished this book. It was a great read although the ending felt really rushed. I don't understand why an author would take 500 pages building characters and story and then rush the last 20 pages.

7. I think that that Lemonades may have replaced the Thin Mint as my favorite Girl Scout Cookie. I love lemon and mint so it may be too close to call.

8. Looking forward to watching this with the kids this weekend. How cool is it that I watched the Muppets when I was the same age my kids are now.  Love that.

9. Speaking of movies- Nick and I are going to see The Hunger Games at the theater tomorrow. Can't wait!

10. This weekend: taxes, sewing, cleaning, yard work!

Much Needed

We are off for a much needed weekend at the cabin. We haven't been there since Winter Break and we're ready. Every night at bedtime this week when I asked Scout what she was going to dream about she said, "The cabin. Only 3 more sleeps!"

Just Chillin'

These photos make me laugh out loud. I don't know if it's the fact that Ellie insisted on wearing her fleece hat indoors or that faux-dainty thing she did with her hand behind her ear. Either way she just makes me laugh.

10 Things on Thursday

1. My mom came to visit last weekend. On Saturday went to story time at the library, the theater to see The Lorax, played in the snow and went out to dinner. I'm still tired!
2. Last Wednesday we had a snow day. This Wednesday it was 51 degrees. Wisconsin weather for ya!
3. Could go for a Shamrock Shake right now. And french fries. And nothing else.
4. I finished this book a couple of weeks ago.  FIVE stars. I highly recommend it. It made me realize that while I'm not necessarily a fan of watching baseball I am a sucker for baseball stories/movies. That being said- it's much more than a baseball book. Plus- it takes place in Wisconsin and the author is from Racine.

5. I finished this book last weekend. I had such high hopes. Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy- how could you go wrong? Well- this book did. Meh. Forced myself to finish it.

6. I'm reading this book right now and REALLY liking it.

7. If you're not watching the show Happy Endings you are missing out. Simply the funniest show on tv right now.  It takes us almost an hour to watch it because we're always pausing because we're laughing so hard.
8.  I had a layout picked up for the August issue of Scrapbooks Etc. Very excited!
9. For the last couple of months I've had a horrible time staying asleep. I go to sleep fine but wake up between 4:40-5 a.m. everyday and can't get back to sleep.
10. Getting excited for The Hunger Games movie.

Carpool

I made this layout for a Freaky Friday challenge at Scrap Freak. The focus was to use non-people photographs to document something in your everyday life. I have been wanting to document my daily afternoon carpool with the girls for awhile and this was the perfect push.

However, the photo is totally staged. I took the photo over my lunch hour so I changed the time on the clock in the van to 4:35 and changed the radio from The 80's on 8 to Kids Place Live. Everything else is authentic :)

Fun & Sun

I love those matching sticker sheets that Jillibean Soup (and others) make. I have made a layout with this design before

In September 2010. Look at how little Ellie was. Awwww. . . .
And then again in January 2011.

and once again last week. I'm sure I will continue to lift this layout. It's quick and simple! I made this for a recent crop at ScrapFreak. Photo of Bennet last summer at my parents cabin in Wahkon, MN.
