Static Electricity Anyone?

Bennet's good friend Heather posted a similar photo on her blog- check it out. http://jenkins-family.blogspot.com/

It's a combination of our dry house in the winter and the fleece blanket (thanks again Katie- we use it all the time) that make her hair stand on end. Andrea- notice anything familiar?

Hair!!

A couple of years ago we inherited Sally, the one handed mannequin as a white elephant gift. Yes- we have a full size mannequin. Talk about CRAZY in the head! I'm not sure why we still have it. But- her wig makes for an evening of entertainment.

How do you think she looks as a brunette? I think she looks alot like our niece MoMo here.
Getting ready for her teen years rebellion. "You can't make me! I'm a rock star!" Nick had to get in on the fun. Creepy.

Let it SNOW!!

We celebrated Bennet's 13-month birthday with some play time in the snow. She LOVED it! It was the nice and fluffy snow. Thanks again to Grandma and Grandpa T for the cool sled. And thanks to Grandma and Grandpa S for the cool toque direct from Finland!

We pulled in circles and she squealed with joy!

I'm queen of the mountian! SO BIG!

Got to Keep Movin'

Bennet took a couple cautious steps a couple of weeks ago. And since then she still prefers crawling over walking. Until this week. She's starting to get more daring. 13 months old today and moving all over the place!

On Wisconsin

Each week I go to Eau Claire for the day for work. This week I took my normal road trip but extended it a little bit with an overnight stay. Essentially I'm making a big square across the state. To keep my occupied, I took photos. Tomorrow I'll head north, east and south.

Just west of Wausau there are several Amish/Mennonite communities. I often see horse and buggies or kids riding their bikes to school. I makes me remember how much I like electricity, but how at the same time I admire the simplicity of that lifestyle.

Close to Eau Claire (where I went to college!!) is Chippewa Falls, WI. Chippewa Falls, WI is famous for many things- but most importantly- Leinenkugel's Beer. It is soooo good! Creamy Dark is my favorite. Bonus point for you movie fans- Name the movie in which the lead character was from Chippewa Falls, WI and mentions Lake Wissota. Hint- The actor was nominated for 2 Golden Globes this year (didn't win) and the movie is the highest grossing of all time. Just for my friend Carla- PANERA!! My favorite place for WiFi and lunch.
And for my friend Lindsey. Check out this freaky mural at the Benjamin Moore store in Chippewa Falls. I think that's a rooster on his lap.

One more photo. I know what this sign is trying to say. But it's a classic example of small town signage.

I love NYC!

Nick and my favorite big city is New York, NY. Hands down. We've been several times, but the best was when we went to visit his parents after we'd been dating about 6 months (Sept. 01). Perfect weather! If we had a little extra dough or time off we'd take a long weekend in a heartbeat. Central Park, fresh Guinness on tap, Fifth Ave, Times Square, people watching, the sights, the smells, the sounds- I could go on and on!

I think Bennet is fast becoming a fan as well. Check out the shirt with her artist beret. Can't you picture her 19 years from now in Washington Square Park (When Harry Met Sally arch for you movie fans) with a good book and cup of $10 coffee?

1 Year Photos and Walking

We took Bennet for her 1 year photos today at a local place that gives you prints in 1 hour. And I know how to rock our scanner! And wouldn't you know it? She took a good 6-7 steps toward the camera when we were there. She took 2 steps last Friday, but hadn't really since. Go B! Enjoy the photos!

Fritos

You know something is up when it gets too quiet around our house. I'll set the scene. We were all in the basement for a typical lazy Sunday afternoon. I was in my scrapbook area, Nick was playing Star Wars Legos on the PS2 and Bennet was playing with her birthday/Christmas loot. All of a sudden Nick says, "I smell Fritos" And sure enough- this was the scene. (Thank you to the Weiss family for the cute fleece outfit. She loves the bow.)

What me? I didn't do it! :)

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang!

We started the New Year off with a bang. Well Bennet did anyways. She's slowly getting more courage to attempt walking. Until she took a digger into the coffee table today. The first of many no doubt. She has a nice bruise across her cheek. Poor kiddo. Yet she still has her smile. What do you think? Is purple her color?
